With today's high speed Internet connections, synchronizing files over the Internet is more convenient than taking them with you on a portable device. Among the many synchronization services out there, Google Drive is one of the best. It can upload your files to the cloud and synchronize them between several computers and mobile devices, without asking for too much user input.

If you have a Google account, then you already have access to Google Drive. All that is left to do is to download and run the desktop application. Once operational, the application will create a sync folder on your local disk. The data you store in this folder will be uploaded to the cloud immediately, with no questions asked. Uploaded files can be accessed on a web interface, which you can bring up on your web browser immediately, through an icon on the menu bar.

Google Drive can be linked with multiple computers and mobile devices. As a result, your files will be sent not only to the cloud, but to your linked devices as well. If you make any changes, like creating a folder or moving a file, the application will make the same modifications automatically on all platforms. The best part is that you don't have to keep your computers running at all times. Once you store a file in the cloud, the application will download it automatically, when the computer is turned on and connected to the Internet.

Uploaded files can be shared via direct, email or social networks, such as Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus. If someone else shares one or more files with you, Google Drive will display them in a separate folder, so you won't mix them with your own.

Pros

You can synchronize entire folders between different computers and mobile devices, just by storing them in a folder. Everything is done without too much user input. Any changes you make will reflect on all linked machines automatically.

Cons

You can't set up your own sync folder. With Google Drive's fast and smart capabilities, you will be able to access your files anywhere in the world, without taking them with you on physical devices.
